I was asked for an icon of St Ia, who gives her name to the church built over her grave in St Ives, Cornwall. We know a little more about her than many other Celtic saints, but not a great deal. She came from Ireland in the 6th century as an evangelist, lived as a hermit, and died as a martyr. There are various romantic legends about her journeys, one of which I have referred to in (I hope) a subtle way with the knotwork leaf design in the corners.
